CRME is happy to announce the newest addition to the United Nations PRME Book Collection, an initiative of CRME in support of PRME. The book “A Practical Guide to Educating for Responsibility” will be authored by Ross McDonald from the University of Aukland Business School in New Zealand. It will be available for purchase through the publisher Business Expert Press in fall 2013. In contrast to the predominant model of teaching which is almost exclusively an intellectual education about responsibility, educating for responsibility integrates emotion, insight, observation and action in a whole person learning.

Dr. McDonald is a true pioneer educator in the field. He taught the first full-time business ethics course in New Zealand and was recognised for contributions to education in New Zealand. Dr. McDonald was admitted into the Ako Aotearoa Academy of Teaching Excellence. The framework of educating for responsibility has recently led to high level discussions at the United Nations and work with the government of Bhutan where he has been asked to integrate educating for responsibility into the foundation programmes of the country’s tertiary institutes. In 2012, the basic framework of educating for responsibility was judged to be the most “creative and inspiring” model for changing education to meet the sustainable goals of the UN Rio +20 agenda by the Principles of Responsible Management Education group (PRME), Aarhus University and  the UN Global Compact Office.

If you are an author interested in publishing as part of the United Nations PRME Book Collection, please have a look at the ongoing call for books.
